Gear Review - The Fly Shop L2A Fly Reel

I had no intention of buying a new reel, but when a buddy of mine kicked me a new 4-weight fly rod, I had the excuse to spend a bit of my saved up writing money on a new reel. I called The Fly Shop in Redding and they talked me into one of their reels.Within two days I had it and within six I fished it.First off, the reel is definitely beautiful. It's fully-machined and has a sensitive drag with a nice grip for easy adjustments. The reel handle also lends itself to easy use with cold fingers. This morning in the shade and spray of a dam spill, my fingers went numb, but they did not slip as I worked on a riffle of foot-long trout. The reel is a little heavy, but for the price this is not a complaint. This reel works exceptionally well and is less than the price of a replacement spool for premium brands.
