The Price of Politics

Book review -The Price of Politicsby Bob WoodwardThough I love being outside and away from the stresses of real life, I cringe at the thought of being uninformed. It is better to be stressed out, but in the know rather than succumb to Internet propaganda and Facebook cartoons.Anyway, with that in mind, I bought The Price of Politics by Bob Woodward. It's an in-depth look at the debt-limit negotiations of last summer and the upcoming consequences of the failure to reach substantial reform. The book not only illuminates the complex negotiating process, but also how absolutely at odds our elected leaders are about the direction of our country. You can read this book and assign blame to Republicans, or Democrats, or the President based on your bias, but the blame is shared. The Price of Politics highlights the catastrophic consequences of not dealing with our out of control spending. You won't feel good after reading the book, but at least you'll have an idea of what's going on and vote with clarity come November - even if you are depressed.
