Gear Review - Dinsmore Egg shaped split shot

During my first trip to the Upper Sacramento River, I was instructed to buy split shot to ensure my nymphs would get to where the fish were. A staff member at The Fly Shop directed me to these split shot and they have not disappointed. First off the shot come in an easy to use dispenser that eliminates the possibility of dumping the weights into gravel or river. Second the shot is precisely divided, providing deep wells in which to place the line and ensure it is secure. This prevents slippage which can fray the line, or the shot from falling off. Lastly, the shot is coated which allows it to keep shape after repeated closing should you use forceps and helps its grip on the line. The shot is easily separated with a thumb nail and returned to the dispenser.
